Some days reward you for just getting out of bed; this was one of those. I set about reading the sunday papers (as one does) this morning and found something that made me laugh until I almost pee'd. It was in the Sunday Telegraph newspaper. You can probably look it up online if you like.
The front cover of the Sunday Telegraph's TV guide was a photograph of a handsome young man named Dan MacPherson (for our american friends that's pronounced: Mac Feeeerrson NOT Mcfiiiiiiirson, for god's sake learn to pronounce things.) Dan seems like a normal, handsome young television actor, who is on the path to fame and fortune.
Except . . . . . . under his handsome face, in big, bold lettering is the caption:
"STEELY DAN"
It seems that some sub-editor has decided that he/she will be a bit 'edgy' and make a Rock and/or Roll referrence to the famous band of the 60's - Steely Dan. (www.steelydan.com) although what relevance that band has to Dan Macpherson escapes me. The thing the sub-editor failed to remember (if he/she ever knew it) is that the band Steely Dan took their name from a chrome plated vibrator. Yes, that's right - they got the name from a shiny metal instrument of female, genital pleasure.
Go the Sunday Telegraph! you morons. Dan if you're reading this, SUE THE IDIOTS! They need to be sued just on principle. Sue them for just plain being stupid. Maybe they think he's a big vibrating dildo? Maybe it was a subtle message to us, the readers that this guy is a tool? Who knows? Perhaps Australian journalism will get better and better . . . no, no it won't.
