OKay, those of you who know my blog will know that I hate being wrong. I hate even more, having to say it in public.
Ahem . . .
I have bagged Heath Ledger's acting in the past. I have said publicly, that his acting was "plastic" and "fabricated" and that I didn't care for him in movies. I also said that I wasn't going to watch the new Batman movie because I didn't think Heath had the nuts to pull off a good 'Joker' and I already know I don't like Christian Bale as the Batman.
Well . . . a good friend of mine invited me to a screening in the "Premier Class" theatre of the local Dendy's and I accepted. I am now forced to publicly admit that:
I was wrong. Heath Ledger OWNS the Joker character in the Batman movies. He was brilliant, exceptional, gifted and inspired in that role. I loved it and I think he deserves ever accolade he gets for it.
Honourable mention goes to Gary Oldman who can play the label off any character he's given. That man plays Inspector/Commissioner Gordon to perfection. He underplayed the part to exactly the right degree, he didn't make him too big or too powerful, he actually gave up his ego for the sake of the character.
So there you are, I said it, now can I have my ice cream back?
