I admit, I was going to make some silly joke about "having a massive election" but . . . I decided against it. Why? Because it's a serious business, that's why.
*gives you serious face*
So it may not sound like much but I voted today. To those of you who do this kind of thing regularly, it's probably nothing too special but for me, it's a mile-stone. Not a mill-stone mind you but a mile-stone.
You see, in this country (OZ) voting is compulsory, it's something you must register for when you turn 18. It's how the gumbyment keeps track of people, ie: where you live, with whom you live, yada yada yada. Failing to register to vote can lead to 6 months imprisonment and a massive fine. I have managed to stay off the register for most of my life but this time I felt it had to be done.
OK, I did give them a little white lie about my address but at least they know I'm still alive. I did this because I wanted to play a part in the downfall of the axis of evil - G.W.Bush, Tony Blair and John Howard. Two of whom are leaving office because they have to and hopefully the last one, in some small way, leaving office because of my vote.
I feel good about this.
